You can open SQL server activity monitor for your SQL 2008 server in the following two ways:
[1] You can open it from standard tool bar. From Standard Toolbar (Standard Toolbar can be made visible from here : Menu >> View >> Toolbar >> Standard)
[2] Another way, right click on your SQL server name.
