Hi,

I have one personal PayPal account but sometimes if I receive the payment, PayPal applies transaction charge even if this is personal account. Did they change any policy recently?

Thanks,

Digitalpoint

If the sender's selects "Personal payments" while sending, there should not be any charge applied for that transaction.

Yes, there are limitations to a personal account. Firstly, you are not allowed to use it for business purposes, meaning that you cannot use it to receive money from selling anything or providing a service.Secondly, a personal account can only receive money free of charge if the other party is sending you from an existing paypal balance. If they send you through a credit card, you will buy a much higher service charge and be restricted to 5 such transactions a year. Remember that only other sellers from the 40 out of the 190 countries can receive paypal funds and probably a smaller pool of sellers who actually keep paypal balances so you be seriously restricting your market base to a small pool of customers. (that is assuming you ignore the fact that a personal account cannot be used for making money with). If you use the personal account to receive money for sales, paypal can get suspicious and may limit your account.
