What is the difference between Indexing and Caching?
« on: December 30, 2011, 02:59:06 PM »
Indexing is a process to make a webpage searchable on search engine whereas the process of caching refers to providing a reprinting content snapshot.

For example, if we uploaded a new website, then first of all search engine crawler will read the site and after that, it will store all its contents in its Index Data Base in a different format (by giving priority to the h1, h2, or bold, title, meta tags etc.), it will not place content as it was published. As a result, the site will appear in search results for optimized keywords.

Google also takes a snapshot of each page on a website and stores it in a different data base which is known as cache data base. If you click on the “Cached” link, you will see the web page as it looked when we indexed it. while, Google creates the index and the database of documents that it accesses when processing a query.

Cache is depends on index process. First of all crawler index your web page address in their database, then cache the information of the web page. If you modify your content of your web page, search engine crawler again cache that page because that page has been indexed already.

Indexing is where search engine has crawled the web and ranks the URLs found using various criteria and places them in the database, or index. Caching is where copies of web pages stored locally on an Internet user's hard drive or within a search engine's database.

Indexing is a way of sorting a number of records on multiple fields. Creating an index on a field in a table creates another data structure which holds the field value, and pointer to the record it relates to. Caching (pronounced “cashing”) is the process of storing data in a cache. A cache is a temporary storage area. For example, the files you automatically request by looking at a Web page are stored on your hard disk in a cache subdirectory under the directory for your browser.

Web caching is the caching of web documents (e.g., HTML pages, images) to reduce bandwidth usage, server load, and perceived lag. A web cache stores copies of documents passing through it; subsequent requests may be satisfied from the cache if certain conditions are met.

Hi

Indexing

When you create a website or web page, crawlers of various search engines (called Internet bots) crawl web pages and list their content in their web server, therefore, they can be relevant and useful. You can reply to a search query along with that crawler is usually used for web page information on meta data, but the indexing of web pages Increasingly, search engines now refer to websites to provide the most useful resources to use instead of meta data.

Cached

The webpage is the indexed view of the cached web page that shows how crawlers / spiders / bots will be read from the top of your web page or copy a duplicate to your server. Yes that is correct!!! Reverse. Since the crawling process is done from top to bottom and this is why it is advisable to keep your content as appropriate as removing the extra coding, this technique helps in ranking.

Hope this helps you.

Indexing- Google visited your website and has added you to its database.
Caching- Google took a snapshot of your website when it last visited and stored the data in case your website went down or if there are some any other issues.

Caching is the process or reading through your webpage source by search engine spiders. They provide a cache certificate after a successful crawl. Indexing is updating the cached webpages in search engine database. Indexed webpages are now ready for search engine rankings.
