Hi,

What the best tool on linux for fast scan HDD to detect bad sector? Previous i'm using badblocks and it's take too long to finish. The size HDD is 3TB. We don't want to wait long time. Please advice.

Thanks!

criss

I heard about the command called badblocks, it will help you to detect bad sectors on your hard disk on linux operating system.

A standard filesystem scan is usually done with fsck. This application handles most filesystems out of the box. However, you may need to install NTFS support separately on some installations.

Right-click on the hard drive with bad sectors and select "Properties". Then go to the "Tools" tab. In the "Error checking" section, click "Check".
