Access website using IPv6 IP address

Started by Chris, October 30, 2019, 04:59:40 PM

Chris

I got a new Linux server with CentOS 7. I installed Apache and uploaded my contents. Now, I want to check my website using IP address directly but the real problem is, the server has IPv6 only. I tried to access my IPv6 IP directly in my browser (like we do for IPv4) but it did not work. Is there a different method to access IPv6 IP directly in browser?

Kailash

For IPv6, you will have to specify [ and ] in the URL as follow:

http://[2607:5300:120:11c:120:11c::]/

For more details, you can refer our following blog post:

You have to point your website AAAA record to server IPv6 and try to access your website in the browser. Otherwise, you can add any test domain in the server apache conf file and add this domain entry in local machine hosts file with IPv6 record.
