You can use third party DNS service to keep your DNS service separate from your hosting provider. You can use service like CloudFlare, ClouDNS and there are many other options available to manage your DNS.

Most Domain registrars offer DNS hosting services for free or low cost. This is a nice way to separate your DNS from hosting service and helps users in case the hosting provider's DNS is down and can easily be pointed away if necessary.

Keep DNS on 2 different server in 2 different location for redundancy

We all need proper DNS resolution for our network applications. Let's face it, when DNS resolution is not working, using anything on your computer that has to do with networking is painful because there is a good chance it will not work. DNS really is not a "nice feature" of a network, it is a requirement. As a network admin, I have heard the alarming cry of end users moaning that the network is down when it would be the cause of the DNS servers. In these cases, I assure them that the network is up and running fine but it is the DNS servers that are down! As you can imagine, that does not go over very well with them because of an end-user, it is all the same thing. DNS is "the network" (not that they know what DNS is anyway). DNS (Domain Name System) problems can lead to issues with website accessibility and online services. To avoid DNS problems while hosting, you need to ensure proper configuration and maintenance of your DNS settings. Here are some steps you can take to prevent DNS-related issues:

1. Choose a Reliable DNS Hosting Provider:

Select a reputable and reliable DNS hosting provider that offers high uptime and a robust infrastructure.
2. Keep Contact Information Updated:

Maintain accurate contact information with your domain registrar and DNS hosting provider. This ensures you receive important notifications about your domain.
3. Use Multiple DNS Servers:

Configure multiple DNS servers to increase redundancy. Use both primary and secondary DNS servers to ensure availability even if one server experiences issues.
4. Set Appropriate TTL Values:

TTL (Time to Live) determines how long DNS records are cached by other DNS servers and clients. Set TTL values appropriately to balance between faster updates and reducing the load on your DNS infrastructure.
5. Regularly Monitor DNS Health:

Monitor the health of your DNS infrastructure using monitoring tools that provide alerts for any potential issues.
6. Regularly Test DNS Resolution:

Periodically test DNS resolution from different locations to ensure your DNS records are propagating correctly.
7. Implement DNSSEC:

DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) adds an extra layer of security to your DNS by digitally signing DNS records. This prevents DNS spoofing and other malicious activities.
8. Avoid Overloading DNS Servers:

Avoid hosting too many domains on a single DNS server, as it can lead to performance issues and delays in DNS resolution.
9. Monitor Domain Expiry Dates:

Keep track of your domain's expiry date and ensure timely renewal. An expired domain can lead to DNS problems and website downtime.
10. Regularly Update DNS Records:
- Keep your DNS records up to date with accurate IP addresses, MX records, and other relevant information.

11. Plan for DNS Migration:
- If you decide to change DNS hosting providers, plan the migration carefully to minimize disruptions. Ensure all records are accurately transferred.

12. Backup DNS Configuration:
- Keep a backup of your DNS configuration in case you need to restore it in the event of accidental changes or issues.

13. Educate Your Team:
- Ensure your team members responsible for managing DNS settings are knowledgeable about DNS best practices and troubleshooting.
