What is the OSI Model?

The open systems interconnection (OSI) model is a conceptual model created by the International Organization for Standardization which enables diverse communication systems to communicate using standard protocols. In plain English, the OSI provides a standard for different computer systems to be able to communicate with each other. The OSI Model can be seen as a universal language for computer networking. It's based on the concept of splitting up a communication system into seven abstract layers, each one stacked upon the last.

The OSI Model (Open Systems Interconnection Model) is a conceptual framework used to describe the functions of a networking system. The OSI model characterizes computing functions into a universal set of rules and requirements in order to support interoperability between different products and software.

Great breakdown of the OSI model! It's really useful for understanding how different systems communicate. Each layer handles a specific function, which makes troubleshooting and development more efficient.

The OSI Model is a conceptual framework that standardizes how different networking systems communicate. It breaks down the communication process into seven layers, from physical connections to application services. Think of it as a guide that helps ensure devices can talk to each other smoothly, no matter their manufacturer or underlying technology.
The OSI model is a useful framework for understanding how different networking protocols interact and communicate. You can apply it to troubleshoot network issues, design network systems, or educate others about networking principles. Essentially, it serves as a universal language for anyone working with computer networks.
