To install chkrootkit, SSH into server and login as root.
At command prompt type:

cd /root/ (any location where you would like to install it)
wget ftp://ftp.pangeia.com.br/pub/seg/pac/chkrootkit.tar.gz
tar xvzf chkrootkit.tar.gz
cd chkrootkit-0.44
make sense

To run chkrootkit

At command prompt type:
/root/chkrootkit-0.44/chkrootkit

Also set the cron to run chrootkit on regular basis and keep the version of chkrootkit updated.

It could be PHP version problem. Try to downgrade the version of PHP and then try. If it doesn't help try to downgrade Apache version if you are using latest one.

Hi,

You can set the alert when someone login as root on your server via SSH. Server will email you

each time when someone login as root. To accomplish this you will need to edit the file .bash_profile.

At command prompt type the below command:

pico .bash_profile

At the end of the file add following code:

echo 'ALERT - Root Access from:' `date` `who` | mail -s "Alert: Root Access from `who | awk '{print $6}'`" mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]

February 17, 2008, 09:47:30 AM
hi Scott,

Sometimes the system file get corrupted and hence you may unable to boot your system. In such case you will need to repair the corrupted file system. In Linux you can repair it using fsck command. In windows we have command chkdsk.

For more details on fsck, you may refer the below article:

Hi Crusty,

If Header value is varchar data type then you will need to use Header = '$Header' in your update query. Your code should be as below:

<?php
$connect
odbc_connect('Ah123', '', '');
if (!$connect)

{exit("Connection Failed: " . $connect);}
$sql="SELECT * FROM Data";
$rs=odbc_exec($connect,$sql);
if (!$rs)

{exit("Error in SQL");}
$id1;
$Header "New Entry";
$query1 "UPDATE data SET Header = '$Header' WHERE ID1= $id";
echo
$query1;

$cr1=odbc_exec($connect,$query1);

odbc_close($connect);
?>

Hi,

You can check the Apache version through command line using the below command:

/usr/local/apache/bin/httpd -v

This works for cPanel/WHM server. If you have Apache installed at other location, you may try using different path.

Hi,

I have recently noticed that now we can select the text in Adsense (Link description). It seems that Google has introduced this to avoid possible accidental clicks on the ads. It is good for advertisers!

cPanel/WHM / Move account through SSH (cPanel/WHM)
December 07, 2007, 12:32:17 AM
Hi,

If the domain size is larger then you may face the problem while moving the account from one server to another server via WHM. In such case, you can try to move the account using SSH. Below are the few commands to move the accccount:

TO PACK ANY ACCOUNT:
/scripts/pkgacct nameoftheuser

TO MOVE ONE TAR FILE TO ANOTHER SERVER. IT REQUIRES SERVER ROOT PASSWORD:
scp /home/name_of_tar_file root@IP_DESTINY_SERVER:/home/ name_of_tar_file

Restoring Packed Account:
/scripts/restorepkg nameoftheuser

Thanks,

cPanel/WHM / Check whether the port is opened or not
December 05, 2007, 06:43:35 PM
Hi,

You can check whether the port is open or not in your server (cPanel/WHM)

using the below commnd:

iptables -L | grep port number

You can update AwStats of your domain manually through shell (via SSH) using

below command:

/scripts/runweblogs username

It will work for cPanel/WHM.

Thanks,
