We heard the news about WP Engine and WordPress issue during last Wordcamp. Hope this will resolve soon and they get solution which does not affect the great WordPress community.

We have recently configured one cPanel server with AlmaLinux 9.x. Usually we go for AlmaLinux 8.x but for long term support, we started with AlmaLinux 9.x.

We installed and configured cPanel on AlmaLinux 9 but we could see that there is no option in EasyApache to enable mod_lsapi. We prefer to use mod_lsapi (lsapi) PHP handler for faster performance.

Does anyone one how can we enable mod_lsapi on cPanel server with AlmaLinux 9.x?

We have noticed high server usage on one of our servers. After investigation, we found that one of the hosted websites was attacked from "claudebot". Does anyone know what is claudebot? And why it is targeting one website?

Also, how can be block claudebot to access our server? Can we block it using anyway?

[Situation:]

Situation: I have to rescue a server with software RAID-1 setup. One of the drives in the RAID-1, which contains the necessary boot information, has failed. The server is currently functioning using only the second drive, which lacks the boot partition or boot information. The server does not support hot-swapping disk bays. Server backups have been taken and stored offsite.

Problem: Rebooting the server could lead to it not booting up due to the absence of boot information on the remaining drive.

Possible Solution: To replace the dead drive and try to boot with a LiveCD, OS is Almalinux8 ?

Question:
.What is the path of least resistance and quickest recovery?
.Is it possible to create a boot partition on the remaining drive of the RAID array?
.Is this situation recoverable, and what are the options?

Hi,

I have recently configured one cPanel server for shared hosting. I have noticed that cPanel user is not able to manage their AutoSSL certificate from their cPanel.

In cPanel SSL/TLS Status option is not showing. I have verified that it is enabled from "Feature Manager". Did I mess up something?

[yum update]

I have executed yum update and rebooted the server but it still booting from the old Kernel  and new Kernel was not appeared in selection during boot option. How can I fix it so that it can boot from the latest Kernel?

WHMCS has recently released a security updates for WHMCS versions 8.5 and 8.6.

A security issue has been identified that affects versions 8.5 and 8.6 of WHMCS.

As a result, we have published new releases of WHMCS 8.5 and 8.6. All earlier versions of WHMCS are unaffected.

The issue was reported privately and there is no evidence to suggest it is known publicly. We will not be releasing any further details about the issue at this time.

It looks like Rackspace's Hosted Exchange platform has been compromised at some point late last week:

On Friday they took the whole platform down and it's been that way ever since.

Looking at the status page things aren't looking great for a resolution anytime soon with Rackspace recommending users switch to Exchange Online mailboxes or set up forwarders to external addresses.

I recently faced an issue to renew free AutoSSL for server's hostname. I tried to renew it manually using the following command:

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/checkallsslcerts

But it returned the following error message:

The cPanel Store returned an error (X::TemporarilyUnavailable) in response to the request "POST ssl/certificate/whm-license/90-day": We were unable to process your request. Please try again later.

I tried several times without any success. Does anyone have solution for this? It is affecting many users who are using server's hostname in email client configurations with SSL option.

We are testing CWP Pro, it looks like a good panel, its installation is very fast, and right now everything is fine.

But we have not used it in production servers. Have you used the panel? Is it safe and reliable?

After many requests, we have decided to perform a security audit of the most common (alternative) control panels:

The four at the top will be done first followed by the rest, just because those were the most requested. From start to finish, I would say it's probably going to take four weeks to complete all of the audits and give them a thorough once-over.

As usual with our testing, we're doing more of a practical test as if we were a malicious user attempting to gain elevated access. The source code will not be a main focus but it will be looked over to some extent. Given the size of this project, the time constraints and the fact that it is a free audit, we're aiming to find at least 90% of security flaws as opposed to 99% with our paid audits.

When everything is done, the developers will be notified and the control panels will be scored:

- How many root level security flaws were present.
- How many lower level security flaws were present.
- How long it took the developers to fix the security flaws.
- Would we recommend the panel or not after it's all said and done?

Once the developers have fixed everything, our audit reports will be made public minus any exploit code in the interest of transparency. Let me know if you guys have any questions or concerns!

We've been using deflate on all cpanel servers and have an include where it enables gzip with deflate globally for all sites on all our servers.

Should we remove this include from per-virtualhost as brotli is being used be default now - will it not cause duplicate compression if we leave the deflate(gzip) include in include editor still?
